Alcaucín Greek legends in the Sierra von Alcázar
Sightseeing: The Church Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Chapel Nuestro Señor del Calvario und El Tajo de la Cueva (Cave). Interesting archaeological relics, in the cave “Guaicos”, in the Abrigo Espino and in the natural park Sierra del Alcazar. The well known Moorish baths of Majadas famous for their healing properties.
Legend: the Nymph Calypso with her magical power held back the king of Ithaca in the fortress Zalia. The monument from al-Andalus was constructed on top of Phoenician walls.
Algarrobo Arabian Cuisine close to the coast
Sightseeing: Algarrobo has many archaeological relics. The Necropolis from Trayamar is the most important palaponese sepulchre on the west coast of the Mediterranean. The fortress tower Torre Ladeada is also famous for its leaning inclination. Not to forget from the 16th Century the Chapel from San Sebastian and the Church of Santa Ana.
Archez The small Moorish Jewel of the Axarquia
Sightseeing: 15th Century Church Nuestra Señora de la Encarnacion. Especially interesting for tale and legend fans is the Doña Fidela Mill. The otherwise quiet village awakens every Wednesday with the weekly street market.
Benamocarra The Cradle of the Composer Eduardo Ocón
Sightseeing: 16th Century Parish Church on the Plaza de Eduardo Ocon. Close by you will find Plaza El Calvario and the Plaza de la Constitution. The old part of town is separated from the new part by beautiful arches, inner courtyards and ancient defence passages.
Arts & Crafts: Typical hand woven baskets made out of willow and natural fibres.
Benalmádena Puerto Marina: Leisure time on the harbour
Sightseeing: Castillo de Colomares also called Bil-Bil and the museum for Pre-Columbian Arts and archaeology are very interesting also the Church of Santo Domingo. Puerto Marina offers a wide range of water sports and culinary pleasures with different pubs and restaurants.
Comares Verdiales, somewhat different
Sightseeing: the remains of the fortress Cerro de Mazmúllar, which were declared as a national memorial monument for the Arabic water reservoir. 16th Century Church Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación in the Mudejar-Stile and the cemetery which is famous because of its unusual whitewashed graves niche with circular arrangements, it’s worth a visit.

Canillas de Albaida Relaxing in a Nature Reservoir
Sightseeing: The most known place is the Arroyo de la Fábrica. The Mountains of Tejeda and Almijara are hunting reserve for wild and this region has been categorised as the National Park of the province. Important monuments are the church Nuestra Señora de la expectación and the chapel of Santa Ana and San Antón.
Festivals: The feast in honour of the Virgen del Rosario is probably the most important.
Macharaviaya Modern age in small Madrid
Sightseeing: It experienced its “Heydays” thanks to family Gálvez during the set up of the royal playing card factory, which gave the name to the municipality of small-Madrid there is also a 16th Century Mudejar Church.
Moclinejo Lovely hiking paths
Sightseeing: 16th and 17th Century parish Church Nuestra Señora de Gracia. Lovely private old wine museum.
Routes: ancient path goes past mountain Piedrasblancas carrying on east takes you to Totalán. Hiking on the east side of the mountain you arrive at the spring, source of the river.
Nerja Prähistorisches Juwel am Ufer des Mittelmeers
Sightseeing: The busiest street begins in the historical Centre and leads to the famous Balcón de Europa. The Chapel Nuestra Señora de las Angústias, built beginning of 18th Century, close to Maro there is the parish Church of Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas build early 17th Century. Apart from the Balcón de Europa and the Nerja Caves there is another landmark wich is the acueducto del Áquila.
Excavations: 1959 discovered Nerja Caves are the most important in the province not only because of its size but also the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites. Many archaeological prehistorical relics were found in the cave because of this it has been declared an archaeological monument. .
Rincón de la Victoria Fisher boats for the virgin
Sightseeing: Casa Fuente also known as Castillo, well known fortress Bezmillana. The 1939 discovered Cave ”Cueva de la Victoria” is not as well known as La Cueva del Tesoro which was discovered early 18th Century, here they found prehistorical wall paintings, fossils and ceramics from the stone age and bronze age.
Festivals: from the 13th - 16th of June there is the procession Virgen del Carmen Patron Saint of the fishermen celebrated on the water.
Torrox Ruins of “Almanzor” Culture
Sightseeing: Close to the lighthouse there are archaeological remains of the Romans. In the village there is the church Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación 17th Century and many chapels Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, San Roque, there are the ruins of the hospital San Jóse, the mill Molino Pérez, the Ingenio Santa Rosa, Casa de la Moneda and La Hoya which are worthwhile a visit.
Cuisine: The last Sunday before Christmas big “Migas Day” celebration.
Teba Unspoilt nature and a Art historical Site Komplex
Sightseeing: from the most important monument the fortress, you can overlook the monumental statement of place. There is 15th Century monastery of San Francisco, 18th Century Church Santa Cruz Real. In the surroundings there are several gorges, Tajo del Molino-Torró und La Puente there are also excellent spots to camp and discover nature. The Sierra del Castillo and Carmen are ideal for hang-gliding
Velez-Malaga Big old trade city on east coast
Sightseeing: The most important Parish Church built early 16th Century is Santa María la Mayor. Also worthwhile seeing are Nuestra Señora de Gracia, San Francisco built in 1503. 17th Century San José de la Soledad and many other little chapels. During the same Century the Palace of the Earl Beniel was build, one of the nicest buildings is the Casa de Cervantes. Other monuments are La Cruz del Arrabal, Teatro del Carmen and the fountain from Fernando VI.
Festivals: The Easter procession is one of the most spectacular after Malaga’s and end of September there is the Feria to inaugurate the patron saint of the city San Miguel.
Málaga cross ways of cultures on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea
Sightseeing: In one of the Buildings close to Plaza de la Merced Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born. Close to the city hall the anciently established gardens “Jardines de Puerta Oscura” start, the garden arrangements of Pedro Luis Alonso Hispanic-Moslem elements. Between the docks and the main part of town, the Alameda since 2003 declared Pedestrian Street Calle Larios there is also the much visited Plaza de la Marina.
Museums: The birth house of Picasso and Picasso museum, cathedral museum das Museo Císter, Museum of arts and crafts and the museum of contemoporary arts.
Festivals: The Feria de Agosto and the Semana Santa (Easter procession) are the most important on the Costa del Sol.
Parks: One of the most beautiful tropical gardens Europes is the Finca de la Concepción from the 19th Century. In 1943 this historical garden was declared as an art historical park. Another beautiful park is the Hacienda de El Retiro.
